"Lets Dance!"
Today In PE we learned how to create a series of dance lessons, using the children's ideas and topics undertaken in the primary curriculum.
We started the lesson by brainstorming ideas for our dance session. As a group we decided to work on the science topic of space. We then created a warm up where the children are travelling round the room using different movements and levels. we then during our warm up practised what it would be like to walk in 0 gravity.
From this we moved on to turning this walk into part of our dance routine, we paired up and decided what our favourite move was and preformed this to beats of 8. Then as a group we created a sequence of movements using turns. then put it together, with the walking, in our pairs.
Then we were in groups to create an set of movements as astronauts to put on our space suits in time to music. Once we created this we then put it together with the walk and turns. When this was done we put it together in a group into a performance.
This lesson has allowed me to see how to create a series of lessons meeting the correct areas that is needed to to ensure all areas of physical activity are met. We talked about how the way we did the lesson and what vocab we used make it accessible for all children and abilities.
Within our lesson we looked at ASDR which stands for Action, Space, Dynamics and Relationships. Action is what the children are doing, Space is where it will take place, Dynamics is how they do it and Relationships is who they work with. We also talk about the lessons in dance needing to cover, travel, still, turns, jumps, levels and gesture.
The activity we did today covered all these areas then we created our own lesson plans.
