TASC Wheel
Today in APD we learned about a teaching approach, the TASC Wheel, which is based on Vygotsky (1978) and Stemberg's (1985) learning theories.
TASC stands for Thinking Actively in a Social Context.
T everyone can improve their thinking
A when we are actively involved in our learning we learn best
S ideas can be shared socially
C understanding the context helps to know why we are learning what we are learning

TASC is used in schools as it:
Promotes inclusive learning
Increases personalisation and ownership of earning
Expands and improve provision for G&T pupils
Inspires creativity
Develops cross curricular problem solving
Improves Assessment for Learning
TASC works across all subject areas, ages and is also gender neutral. It can also provide all children with a framework for thinking.
The TASC Wheel consists of 7 elements:
Gather/ Organise
Identify
Generate
Decide and Implement
Evaluate
Communicate
Learn from Experience
Within session we looked at how each part of the wheel could be used in the class. I really liked they approach to teaching as it gives the children chance to have their own ideas, work as a team, be creative, as well as a great way of keeping them engaged. I am now eager to use this teaching approach on professional practice.
