Who Inspired Me!

I thought I would look back and reflect upon the people throughout my life who have inspired me to become a primary teacher. This post is going to focus on the teachers I had at primary school, that made a lasting impact on me.

Mrs C was a teacher who I looked up to and respected. She used to take the time to talk to us and make sure we were all ok. I had the feeling that she really did care about us and not just our results but our welfare. I always enjoyed her lessons and her behaviour management was very good as the class responded well to her, because our relationship was based on mutual respect.

Whereas I had another teacher Mrs S who was always quick to raise her voice and focus on the negative. I didn't enjoy her lessons as much even though I did progress in both environments.

From these experiences I have a clearer understanding on how to create positive relationships with all the pupils in the class. This has shown me that children learn in different ways, as well as learning about how to mange behaviour of the class to help the children to progress.

From trying out behaviour management approaches whilst on placement I understand the importance of getting relationships right with pupils and recognising all the needs the individual pupils. As well of using the correct behaviour management.

To work on this area of professional development, I will observe teachers behaviour management strategies

and talk to the children about how they best learn.
